Celebrations mark the centenary of Fläkt Woods in the UK
Two landmark celebrations for Fläkt Woods have celebrated the centenary of fan production in Colchester, with a cheque presentation and a tree planting event. Bob Russell, the Liberal Democrat MP for Colchester recently arrived at their manufacturing works in Axial Way Colchester to help commemorate the Company's 100 years in the Town, presenting a cheque for £1000 to Bob's favoured charity, YES, the Colchester Youth Enquiry Service.
During the ceremony Bob paid tribute to Fläkt Woods' continued backing of Colchester, saying: "Woods of Colchester, Fläkt Woods as we know it today, has been an important part of the life of Britain's Oldest Recorded Town for 100 years. Now based at the Colchester Business Park, I trust that its second hundred years will be as momentous and as successful as its first century."
After handing over the cheque, he concluded by saying "I was particularly privileged to be invited to the official opening of this factory in September 2006 and I'm equally honoured to be coming back today to perform one of the official ceremonies that are marking the company's 100 years in Colchester."
YES is based in Crouch Street in Colchester and is Colchester's Youth Advisory Service, offering free counselling, support and information for any 11 to 25 year olds on any problem.

At a separate ceremony, a tree was planted within the grounds of the factory in Axial Way. Commenting on this special event, Allan Hurdle Fläkt Woods Managing Director said “This is a particularly significant occasion and tree, it seems appropriate that as most oak trees take hundreds of years to reach maturity, and it is considered one of the strongest woods in the world, we chose this particular tree to mark our centenary year”.
