Chilled Beams Flexicool

Under one of its largest chilled beam contracts to date, Fläkt Woods' (FW) Flexicool® range has been selected to provide the indoor climate control for retail units, as part of the on-going €190 million redevelopment of the Skärholmen Shopping Centre in Sweden.
Working for contractor Skanska Sverige AB, the Company is providing over 3,000 units from its IQIC range of beams. Already one of Sweden's largest shopping centres, Skärholmen was originally constructed in 1969, and is undergoing a major refit and extension, which will see retail floor space increase from 409,000 square feet (38,000 square meters) to more than 645,000 square feet (60,000 square meters).
IQIC beams are being installed throughout the Centre, including individual units as well as the main mall. They offer complete flexibility, with various solutions for cooling and cooling/heating, as well as high efficient ventilation and different accessories such as lighting and a variety of control solutions. Customers can select between Induction Supply Air or Passive Beams in various shapes and dimensions suitable for integration in false ceilings or for visible exposed installation. The beams are equipped with a patented comfort regulator system, comfort control, and adjustable vanes, Flow Pattern Control, for the adjustment of flow, cooling effect and flow pattern.
When completed in 2008, the total number of shops at Skärholmen will rise from 130 to 200. Commenting on the contract win, Tony Molin, Fläkt Woods AB Stockholm said: "A winning combination of price and a superior design and technical solution, meant the IQIC range was the obvious choice for Skanska to select."
