Fläkt Woods has been awarded substantial contract to supply car park ventilation solutions for the 53 storey Dual Tower buildings, located in the heart of Bahrain’s new $1.3 billion Financial Centre development.

At 260m high, the Dual Towers are set to become the tallest buildings in the kingdom. The design is based on sails set at opposing angles, and each building will offer office and commercial space for the financial sector and look out over the Arabian Gulf.
Fläkt Woods expertise has been called upon to supply the fans for the underground parking bays. There will be a total of 3,500 spaces for the whole Financial Centre.

The car park
The project is a multi level car park with run and standby smoke extract fans rated for 300oC and fresh air inlet fans for Carbon Monoxide (CO) and smoke ventilation, the fans are on four floors, basement, ground, first and mezzanine.
Over 100 Jet fans are being supplied as well as truly reversible Jet fans incorporating truly symmetrical (TS) aerofoil blade technology. Additionally Fläkt Woods is supplying the main extract JM fans also comprising of TS blades.
The system incorporates automatically controlled and operated damper units that open as required on the CO/ Smoke ventilation level.
The control panel is designed for optimum control of the system and individual fans and dampers.
Fläkt Woods design team carried out a detailed Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis study to ensure that effective ventilation of the car parks is provided, confirming optimum positions and operation of fans within the car park floors prior to installation.
Using CFD, Flakt Woods Engineers are able to calculate how the airflow within the car park behaves under normal running conditions and in the emergency ventilation mode
